He began his private practice of DENTISTRY WITH SEDATION in 1976, dedicated to treating the apprehensive dental patient.  He feels that, unfortunately, this population mostly seeks dental treatment on an emergency basis when confronted with either pain, swelling, broken teeth or any combination of the three.  If that same person could only be helped through this terrifying experience by providing sedation and was "deprogrammed" of his phobia, he could be transformed into a patient who maintained good oral health and hygiene, rather than merely reacting to a problem!  This could mean a patient who would keep more of his teeth for a lifetime and enjoy a beautiful smile!
